Thursday 3 October 8.15pm – I ♥ MUSIC at Babbacombe Theatre

You can expect to enjoy a fun-filled show which will take you on an inspirational musical journey, encapsulating all genres on the musical spectrum. Enjoy pop classics from Queen, Take That, Little Mix, George Michael, Paloma Faith and John Legend amazing operatic arias interspersed with some of the most favoured and popular songs from movie sound tracks which include, Skyfall, A Star is Born, Mamma Mia and the Greatest Showman and from the musicals, Les Misérables, Billy Elliot and Dear Evan Hanson. Sunday 13 October 7pm to 9pm – Caves and Cosmos at Kents Cavern

If our ancestors looked up at the night sky half a million years ago, what would they have seen?  How different would it have been from what we see today? Join Rob from astronomy charity ‘Dartmoor Skies’ for an insightful, fun and interactive talk which will explore what previous inhabitants of Kents Cavern would and wouldn’t have seen when they gazed skyward. If the sky is clear there will be a guided tour of the night sky and a chance to see some wonders of the universe first hand. Including the Hunters Moon which will be visible that evening.You’ll be able to see all of this through Dartmoor Skies’ brilliant telescopes.  If the weather is bad then a guided cave tour will take place in which you will get to see the true beauty of these magnificent and scientifically significant caves. Friday 18 October 7.30pm – Gilbert O’Sullivan in Concert at Babbacombe Theatre

Enjoying one of the most creative and commercially successful periods of an outstanding career, Gilbert O’Sullivan has continued to look to the future while his famous back catalogue has won respect and adoration all over the world.  His 2018 album reached the top 20 and he now returns for a solo show that will see him present new songs alongside classics such as ‘Alone Again Naturally’, ‘Clair’ and ‘Nothing Rhymed’ in an intimate and unforgettable setting.

Saturday 19 to Thursday 31 October – Halloween Half Term Fun at Kents Cavern

There are regular tours throughout the day, so there’s no need to book. Just turn up and collect your activity sheets!

UNDERGROUND PUMPKIN HUNT – Mascot Cavog has hidden pumpkins around the caves. Find the correct number to get a Halloween treat!

WOODLAND BAT CHALLENGE – Can you find all the bats hidden around the woodland trail? Each bat has a missing word on it, find all the words to claim your bat expert card.

GUESS THE WEIGHT OF THE PUMPKIN – Correctly guess how heavy the pumpkin is for a chance to win a prize!

MAKE YOUR OWN BAT – Create your own bat friend to take home with you.

The Model Village is open all day from 10am and there are Halloween scenes around the gardens all day, also a trail hunt for themed miniature characters (daylight only). 

However, the full spooky Halloween theme starts to come alive from dusk (late afternoon)……

THE SPOOKY MAZE – Redesigned for 2019 – After dark, can you find your way through the outdoor Halloween maze and see what you will encounter – redesigned for 2019, so you might take a wrong turn!

SPOOKILLUMINATIONS, SOUND, FIRE & LIGHTING EFFECTS – Creating an amazing spooky atmosphere after dark

WORKSHOP OF HORRORS TOUR – This spoof tour is the spooky highlight of our Halloween experience. You go behind the scenes, on an eerie tour by lantern light, through the woods and past ‘abandoned’ haunted workshops. Hang around for a chilling ghost story! Regular tours start after dark and lasts about 20 minutes. 

HAUNTED HOUSE 4D – The 4D theatre takes you on a 3D journey through an eerie haunted house with bone-rattling and spine-tingling special effects, showing evenings.

NEW YEAR’S DAY 12 noon and 3pm – Wonderful Christmastime at Babbacombe Theatre

The party’s on….and only comes this time of year. The mood will be right, and the spirit of goodwill will abound in the all new festive family show, Wonderful Christmastime. Comedy will feature throughout; in more than one guise! Enjoy comedic one liners, funny stories and numerous side-splitting sketches. If you like to celebrate the yuletide season with laughter, then this show will not disappoint.
Happy memories will come flooding back as the cast reminisce and share with you some enchanting musical moments. Viva La Coldplay recreate the complete anthology of Martin, Buckland, Berryman and Champion.  The band perform two hours of career-spanning material from 2000’s ‘Parachutes’ to 2015’s ‘A Head full of Dreams’ taking in key tracks such as Yellow, Clocks, The Scientist, Viva La Vida, Something Just Like This, Paradise and Adventure of a Lifetime to name a few.  This is a show that will delight both fans and novices alike.
